GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) is a 3 years diploma programme aimed to prepare students to work effectively as members of the health team. The course will enhance individual skills in nursing care including practice of nursing within the framework of ethical code of conduct as per professional standards. It teaches individuals about behavioral science, community health nursing, and about nursing foundation etc.
On completion of GNM course, one has to register themselves in State Nursing Registration Council as a Registered Nurses and Midwives, which will enable them to get much easier access to various job opportunities both in Government and Private sectors. They can work as a Staff Nurse, Home Nurse, Health Visitor & Community Health Worker. They can also opt for higher education or pursue careers in related field to gain access to diverse job profiles
ANM (Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery) is a 2 years diploma programme. The course will equip the students to apply the knowledge in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities. It will provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the other health care team members.
After completing ANM course and getting registered with a State Nurse Registration Council, they are easily absorbed in both government and private sectors. They can work as a Home Nurse, Health Visitor & Community Health Worker. They can also opt for higher studies or pursuing career in the related field. One may pursue GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) course. On completion of GNM, one may go for B.Sc. Nursing (Post Basic). This course will lead one to a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
